Why I Cannot Wish You a "Happy New Year"
I want to tell you one thing: I cannot tell Romanians "Happy New Year" because, from my point of view, it would mean I am mocking them. This New Year is not happy. It is a total disaster.
We have hundreds of thousands of people who have no water. We no longer have dams, we no longer have oil, we no longer have gas. Our elderly cannot afford to buy even a single slice of pork to make a meal. 30% of Romanians are in a state of absolute pauperization. We have 10 million Romanians outside our borders because of this. And yet, we are a country that has everything—the sea, the mountains, the second largest building in the world. We are a land that should be a top destination, but we are selling Romania piece by piece. We don't know how to advertise our beauty; we don't know how to bring visitors to see our history. Instead, we have leaders who act like horses pulling in opposite directions—"cea" and "hăis"—one to the left, one to the right, destroying everything in their path.
We have people imprisoned for freedom of expression. We have an unjust justice system, secret services doing social engineering, and traitors at the governance level. We have an unconstitutional and illegitimate president, and a Constitutional Court that gave a coup d'état. The police and gendarmerie are being used to beat the Romanian people, while taxes and duties are crushing everyone. It won't even be easy for me to raise my children in this environment.
This country was not built by these leaders. Romania still exists because of the people who went abroad to work—those in Spain, Italy, and across Europe who sent money back and lifted this nation while the politicians tore it down.
When children have no access to health or school, and cancer patients are being destroyed, how can I say "Happy New Year"? To those who have brought us to this ruin, to those who betrayed our constitution and our people:
SHAME ON YOU! (RUȘINE SĂ VĂ FIE!)
We don't need empty wishes. We need the self-confidence to stop being strangers in our own land and to start valuing what is ours.
